Print Workshop, Saturday 2nd July, 10:30-4pm
An amazing chance to work in a fully equipped professional print studio. Join us for a day of printmaking for all levels using a range of materials, tools and inks.
Drypoint is a fantastically direct technique achieved by scratching your drawing into a acetate plate. This plate can then be printed multiple times using an old fashioned etching press and experimenting with colors application and backgrounds. This workshop is perfect for starting you off on a printmaking skills.
Linocut - You will be carefully guided through each stage of the linocut process. We will cover the different ways you can use the carving tools and mark making, other ways to make marks in the lino, planning your design, transferring the design to the lino, carving, rolling out the inking, blending colours and printing.
Learn how to create reduction lino printed pictures in this workshop, with Vivien Ayres an experienced printmaker and teacher. The workshop held in our dedicated print studio will cover:
- Introduction to traditional lino printing techniques and concepts
- Designing your image; and
- Cutting and printing your lino in layers to create your own lino printed images.
The course does not require any previous experience or existing drawing skills- and is designed to give you an insight into printing practice allowing time and space to experiment and gain confidence on this new skill.
All materials and resources are included in the course fee.
After successful completion of this workshop the print room can be booked for personal work.
Use of tools, inks, paper and other materials. Tea, coffee & biscuits.
The workshop will be run from 10:30-4pm.

The class will be held in the main studio of Cheltenham School of Fine Art on the first floor of Carmargue House, 32 Wellington Lane, Cheltenham GL52 2AG.
What you need to bring to the studio: Please bring your mask so you can wear it when necessary, your own bottle of water and your lunch with you or step out to the cafe in Pittville Park to grab a snack.
We also recommended that you bring your notebook / sketchbook and pencils with you.
There is free 4 hour parking around the nearby Pittville Park or NCP parking at North Place.
