Our painting courses in oils, acrylic and watercolour are varied to suit our mix of students and artists

“Painting is a blind man’s profession. He paints not what he sees, but what he feels, what he tells himself about what he has seen.” Pablo Picasso

Our painting courses are varied to suit our mix of students and artists. Using oils, acrylics or watercolour, you will explore the freedom of creating form through colour. We reference both historical and contemporary painting practices and artists to encourage an understanding of an individual position within the practice of painting.

We use a three colour painting method: yellow, red and blue (plus white).

This process allows our painters to develop an understanding of using colour to create form, to find their personal colour harmony preferences within this range before moving on to additional colours. This practice is recommended to be continued for as long as possible, but each individual will work at different rates.

For many courses, a set project concept or project options will help guide you through the process, for the more experienced painter, independent projects will direct your process and we will support you through its development.
