Tuesday Evening Class Painting & Drawing 6 - 8:30pm, Spring '25
A ten week course starting week commencing 6th January 2025. There will be a break for a two week half term week commencing 10th & 17th February. Term ends week commencing 31st March.
This course will study various painting and drawing techniques and is suitable for all levels. Each week there will be demonstrations of the chosen topic or technique followed by individual work with feedback and one-to-one instruction.
The class will be held in the main studio of Cheltenham School of Fine Art on the first floor of Camargue House, 32 Wellington Lane, Cheltenham GL52 2AG. There is free 4 hour parking around the nearby Pittville Park or NCP parking at North Place.

Through practical exercises and constructive support, this inspiring course is designed to build your artistic skills and take your creativity further.
From the fundamentals of sketching and colour, to composition, painting and experimenting with style, you will study and explore an engaging variety of creative media and subject matter.
Suitable for complete beginners or experienced artists looking to broaden their horizons, the carefully structured syllabus allows you to progress and consolidate your learning at your own pace.
The course is geared around the needs of the group but will cover topics such as:
- Composition, perspective and formal elements
- Drawing in pencil, pen and ink, formal elements of sketching styles
- Drawing still life, landscapes and internal scenes
- Materials and variety of colour palettes
- Watercolour techniques - traditional & expressive
- Mixed media
- Experiments with style - looking at various artists as a starting point.

Our tutors are practising artists themselves, sharing their experience and expertise through one to one guidance and feedback. Combined with the opportunity to discuss your art with other students in our friendly studio, the course offers a perfect environment to achieve your full artistic potential.
This is a wonderful course for beginners or those who have been out of their art practice for a while and want to take a refresher. There is an emphasis on developing drawing skills and you will also have the opportunity to experiment with pastels, watercolour and acrylic painting. We will be working from still life objects and occasionally from photographs.
This course is suitable for all levels as small groups allow one-to-one guidance tailored to experience.
